The Cessnock District Rescue Squad is sending out a challenge to conscientious and motivated residents who may be interested in becoming a Rescue Operator. Trainee Rescue Operators are involved in operational incidents throughout the training period under the direct supervision of Qualified Rescue Operators.
If you reside within 5 kilometres of the Cessnock or Kurri Kurri CBD, hold an unrestricted car licence and want to challenge yourself you are eligible to apply. Day time availability, first aid certificate and MR licence is desirable but not essential.
As a Rescue Operator with the Cessnock District Rescue Squad you will be accredited with the State Rescue Board and involved in all facets of rescue incidents. Upon being accepted as a Trainee Rescue Operator all training is carried out at the Cessnock Base between 7pm ‐ 9pm every Monday for a period of 9 ‐ 12 months.
Majority of call outs are to motor vehicle collisions (over 1,000 in the squads history)
Cessnock District Rescue Squad members are volunteers and receive no payment for their service, however the reward of learning and preforming life saving skills is priceless.
