At 11:36 today during the ANZAC Day ceremony, our squad was activated to assist with an injured motorcycle rider up in the Watagan State Forest in the vicinity of Laguna.
With 4wd vehicles required, we sent 2 light response 4wd vehicles to respond whilst another 2 vehicles remained in town to continue with the ANZAC ceremony and cover any other incidents that may arise.
Arriving on scene at Laguna, the aftermath of a motorcycle and car collision lay before first responders. The rider had suffered some significant injuries after colliding head on with another vehicle.
He was being treated by NSW Ambulance as we arrived. Once stabilised, our operators assisted with placing the rider on a spine board, he was then positioned into a stokes litter and secured to be transported on the rear of a can-am to the awaiting Toll Rescue Helicopter.
He was flown by helicopter to hospital for further treatment and assessment.
Well to all on scene, some uneven terrain to deal with as well as the remote location.
