At 1550 this afternoon our squad was activated to a persons trapped motor vehicle collision on Leggetts Drive at Mount Vincent.
A pantech truck had collided with a power pole trapping the driver by compression.
Working alongside the team from Toronto Fire & Rescue the task of freeing the driver began.
Stabilising the vehicle was the first priority , using several types of stabilising equipment, including two types of struts off our new heavy rescue truck.
To make the job more comfortable, we also utilised our rescue platform for easier access and stability.
Hydraulic rescue tools , reciprocating saw and other equipment was used to remove doors and perform a dash push to release the compression of the legs of the driver before being extricated.
This was a technical job due to the height and angle of the truck.
The patient was then transported by Toll Rescue Helicopter to hospital for further assessment and treatment.
Another perfect example of all emergency services working together to get the job done.
Another vehicle into power pole.
