A busy 24 Hours for the Rescue Squad

It was a busy weekend for Cessnock District Rescue Squad attending numerous callouts.

The first callout was at approximately 1:15am on Sunday Morning with reports of a single vehicle accident on McDonalds rd Pokolbin near Broke Rd. Rescue Units responded to the scene however upon arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics the driver of the vehicle was deceased, Rescue squad members were called off at the scene while the section of McDonalds Rd was closed in both directions and investigations by NSW police were conducted.

The Rescue Squad was then called out at approximately 3:50pm to assist NSW Police forensics with lighting for a fatal accident between a motorbike and car which had occurred earlier at approximately 10:45am on Wollombi rd Sweetmans Creek, Rescue Squad members remained on scene till approximately 8:45pm and the road reopened to traffic a short time after.  Wollombi Rd was closed in both directions between Millfield and Wollombi for approximately 10 Hours.

Then at approximately 12:15am Monday morning the Rescue Squad was then activated to assist NSW Ambulance paramedics on Wollombi Rd Cessnock with an elderly lady whom had fallen over in the bathroom, due to the size of the bathroom and the woman’s injuries rescue squad members assisted paramedics to stabilise the women and remove her from the bathroom into the Ambulance where she was transported to by road to Maitland Hospital and rescue squad members returned home after a busy weekend of callouts.
