It’s been a busy couple of weeks.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the  squad with 3 seperate accidents.

On July 14,

Just before 11PM Wednesday night CDRS were activated to an MVA on Wollombi Road just outside of Bellbird.

Arriving on scene, it was confirmed that no persons were trapped. You can see by the extensive damage to the utility that if there had have been a passenger in the vehicle the situation would have been very different.

Crews remained on scene to provide lighting and assist other services with anything they may have needed.

On July 20,

CDRS crews were activated this morning to a persons trapped MVA at the intersection of Duffie Drive and Maitland Road Cessnock.

They arrived on scene to find a 2 car MVA with a woman in one car being trapped by confinement.

Once the vehicle was stabilised, our volunteers used both battery powered and pump powered hydraulic tools to remove the driver’s door, and the roof to allow greater access for paramedics and to make the extrication easier. A glass cutting saw was also used to cut the windscreen to allow the removal of the roof.

They then assisted other emergency services in transferring the patient from the vehicle on to a spine board, so she could be transported into the awaiting ambulance.

Her injuries at this stage are unknown.

Today July 30,

CDRS were activated this afternoon at 3pm to respond to a persons trapped accident on Abernethy Rd Abernethy.

Arriving on scene it was confirmed that the sole occupant of the vehicle was trapped by confinement after colliding with a tree.

Paramedics attended to the patient while our members stabilised the vehicle. Once the patient was assessed by the paramedics, crew members used their battery operated combination tool to spread the door and cut the hinges so the door could be removed.

The patient was then removed from the vehicle, on to a spine board and then transferred to the awaiting ambulance.
