Rescue Squad call outs for assistance

he Cessnock District Rescue Squad has responded to several incidents recently of various natures.

At around 2pm Thursday 7th squad personnel responded to a Kurri Kurri address to assist Paramedics after a resident had fallen in a very confined and difficult location within the house. Squad personnel assisted Paramedics with removing the patient from the confined area and into the lounge room so they could conduct a more thorough assessment of the patient.

At around 4pm Saturday 9th squad personnel responded to the intersection of Charlton Street and South Avenue Cessnock following reports of a two vehicle collision with possible persons trapped. Upon arrival of Paramedics at the scene however it was evident that no persons were trapped therefore Rescue Services were called off.

At 2pm Monday 11th squad personnel responded to a Kurri Kurri school with reports of a child with their head stuck in stairway handrail. Squad personnel used hydraulic spreaders to widen the gap between the rails and very quickly released the grateful child from their predicament.

At 3.45pm Friday 15th squad personnel responded to a multi vehicle collision at the intersection of Wine Country Drive and Lomas Lane Nulkaba. All emergency services were dispatched to the incident following reports that a semi-trailer and three cars had collided with possible persons trapped. Upon arrival of Rescue Personnel, Paramedics advised that one female driver was still in her vehicle with all other persons out of the other vehicles. Whilst Paramedics treated the injured women Rescue Personnel assessed the vehicle and determined that no rescue equipment would be required. Paramedics and Rescue Personnel placed the women on a spine board before removing her through the rear driver’s door. The woman was transported to hospital by Ambulance suffering possible back and internal injuries. Paramedics assessed all other persons involved at the scene with no others requiring hospitalisation. Rescue Personnel maintained traffic flow throughout, however significant delays resulted for both north and south bound vehicles on Wine Country Drive until around 5pm
