Squad Kept Busy over Festive New Year

At Approximately 7:15pm 25/12/2013 Cessnock District Rescue Squad

responded of reports of a persons trapped accident 1km north of the Orica Site

on George Booth Drive Buchanan, when emergency services arrived on scene there was no

one trapped and the Rescue Squad was stood down.

On the 28/12/2013 Cessnock District Rescue Squad was responded by NSW

Ambulance Paramedics to assist with gaining entry to a property in Cessnock,

upon arrival of Paramedics and Rescue Squad personal the male was found

deceased.

The on the 30/12/2013 at approximately 1:00pm the Rescue Squad responded

to reports of a Persons trapped accident about 30 Kms from Wollombi towards

Kulnura on Georges Downs Drive. Upon Arrival of Emergency Services and the

Rescue Squad a Female passenger of the vehicle was deceased, Rescue Squad

members remained on scene till approximately 6:30pm and Assisted NSW Police

Crash Investigation with the removal of the deceased female. George Downs

Drive was closed in both directions and reopened at approximately 8pm.

On a lighter note the Cessnock District Rescue Squad was presented recently

with a cheque  from Paxton Bowling club whom had a charity bowls day for the

Rescue Squad and a total of $864.00 was raised, Cessnock District Rescue Squad

also received a cheque from Tomaplin Lodge, these donations will go towards

purchasing vital rescue equipment.

Cessnock District Rescue Squad also attended a large amount of Snake calls

with the hot weather making snakes more active and a reminder if you see a
