At 1436 yesterday afternoon our operators were activated to the activation of a GPS distress beacon in the Watagan National Park.
It was later reveal that the missing persons had continued on foot towards Congewai, so one of our units and a RFS appliance were deployed to the Congewai region to continue the search.
Our second unit remained at the original location to assist with safely extracting emergency vehicles and personnel from the extremely wet and slippery tracks they were encountering during the search.
Due to fading light and concern for welfare, another RFS unit was attached to assist.
The Paxton RFS unit located the missing persons who were found safe following their frightening experience. This was a huge effort for all crews involved, many man hours dedicated to this incident all by volunteers helping the community.
Only a few hours after this job was finally complete, we were activated to a road crash rescue in the Hunter Economic Zone at Pelaw Main.
Just as one of our trucks pulled up on scene, it was confirmed all persons were out of the vehicle being treated for their injuries by medical personnel.
Our members remained on scene for a short while to see if they could render any further assistance, before being released from the scene and returning back to station.
