Another impact with power pole

At 1054 this morning our squad was activated to a persons trapped road crash rescue at Paxton.
Arriving on scene it was confirmed that a male occupant of a utility was trapped by compression of the legs after colliding with a power pole.
Our operators assessed the scene and got to work.
The vehicle was stabilised before our crew set about performing a dash roll to relieve the compression of the driver’s legs.
Hydraulic rescue tools were used to perform the task. Once enough room was created, the driver was extricated and placed onto a spine board and carried to the awaiting ambulance stretcher so he could be further assessed and treated.
Originally a rescue helicopter was activated, but once extricated, medical personnel were happy with him being transported by road.
This was a complex extrication due to the pressure and tension created against the firewall from the impact with engine and suspension parts forced rearward.
Well done to all services on scene.
